What is Commission?
Commission is a payment based on the value of a sale, transaction or another agreed amount. It is often calculated as a percentage. At 5% commission on Rs. 100,000 in sales, the commission earned is Rs. 5,000.

How to Calculate Commission
Commission = Sale Amount × Commission Rate ÷ 100
On Rs. 200,000 at 7.5%, the calculation is 200,000 × 7.5 ÷ 100 = Rs. 15,000 commission.
How to Calculate Commission Percentage
Commission Rate = (Commission Amount ÷ Sale Amount) × 100
Rs. 15,000 commission on an Rs. 200,000 sale is 15,000 ÷ 200,000 × 100 = 7.5%.
How to Calculate Sales from Commission
Sale Amount = Commission ÷ (Commission Rate ÷ 100)
Rs. 15,000 at 7.5% came from Rs. 200,000 in sales. A zero rate cannot be reversed because division by zero cannot determine an original amount.
How Does Base Salary Plus Commission Work?
A representative with an Rs. 50,000 base salary and 5% commission on Rs. 500,000 in sales earns Rs. 25,000 commission, for total earnings of Rs. 75,000.
